original realistic abstract art and acrylic landscapes painting by Canadian modern abstract artists - Lisa Carney

Hi I’m Lisa Carney

Welcome to my studio

Step into my world of intuitive
abstract landscapes

I am an abstract painter and singer originally from the Gaspe Coast in Quebec, Canada, currently residing and creating in Sainte-Anne-Des-Plaines, north of Montreal. I grew up in a musical family near a beach where I spent quite a bit of time as a kid with my brothers and cousins. I loved singing and anything that had to do with art.

Walking The path that chose me

I sang in rock bands during my studies in marketing and visual arts, then later prioritized music in my early working years. But something was missing. I started dabbling in mixed media and collage art and began showing my work in exhibitions and selling art online. That was it, I was hooked.

My creative process

Today, my paintings are mostly minimalist abstract landscapes and gardens, created intuitively and inspired by the open fields and stunning views of the Baie-des-Chaleurs region. A place where I feel grounded and where I feel I can breathe.

How I sing with color

Drips are a recurring element in my paintings, symbolizing roots both metaphorically and literally, reflecting my origins and life's beginnings.

I create like I’m singing a song with color.

My color choices reflect my mood each day and sometimes include unexpected combinations. My work is romantic and poetic and invites to take a moment to breathe. I want my paintings to be sanctuaries, where viewers get lost, find their own meaning and connect emotionally, just as I do when creating them.
