Residual Fields — Holding the Horizon

There are moments in the studio when the painting settles into a line.

A horizon appears, not planned, but found.
It holds the surface in place. Divides, but also connects.

Residual Fields are made in these moments.
After working on a larger painting, what remains on the palette knife is gathered and carried forward. The same movement continues, but in a smaller space.

Nothing is added. Nothing is rebuilt.
The gesture simply finds another place to land.

In this group, the works lean toward structure.
Lines hold steady across the surface.
Edges remain visible.
The field feels grounded.

They are small, but not secondary.

Each one is complete, a quiet continuation of the same breath.
