There’s a new large-scale work in progress in the studio, 36 x 60 x 1.5 inches, and it’s slowly finding its place within the GeoFlora series.
This one began in warmth. Soft reds and peach tones laid the foundation, creating a kind of quiet heat across the surface. At that stage, everything felt open, atmospheric, almost suspended. From there, I started to deepen the palette, bringing in cooler reds and subtle shifts that added structure without losing that initial softness.

Only later did I begin to reintroduce warmth in a different way, through pinks, yellows, and touches of orange. These layers don’t sit on top so much as move through the painting, creating small moments of energy and contrast that change depending on how long you look.

It feels like a departure from the recent blue and green works. Those leaned into a more fluid, expansive calm, while this one holds a different kind of presence, warmer, denser, a little more grounded. Not louder, but closer.
As with all the GeoFlora pieces, the process is intuitive and layered. I’m paying attention to balance, to where the eye rests, to how the color fields interact and settle. It’s still shifting, still asking questions, but it’s getting close.
This painting will be available in early April.
Newsletter subscribers will receive first access before it’s released more widely.
